Low levels of testosterone have been implicated in a host of life-threatening health problems. Maintaining normal testosterone levels is one of the most important steps you can take to regain your health and improve your performance. Normal testosterone has been associated with maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system.
Life Extension's reformulated Super MiraForte contains high potencies of chrysin and nettle root-plant extracts that naturally reduce the aromatization (conversion) of testosterone to estrogen to enhance free testosterone levels. Bioperine® is included to facilitate the absorption of chrysin (a natural flavonoid) into the bloodstream. Muira puama is a rainforest herb classified in the Brazilian Pharmacopeia as an aphrodisiac. In a trial of men with decreased libido and other sexual issues, 62% of those taking muira puama reported positive results in regard to libido, while 51% of those with a common sexual problem felt that the herb was helpful. A second trial examined men with decreased libido and found that 85% of the test subjects taking muira puama enjoyed an enhanced libido, 90% had improved sexual function, and 100% of test subjects experienced an increase in intercourse frequency.
Maca, also called Peruvian ginseng, is a Peruvian plant (sort of like a radish) used for restoring energy, vitality and fertility. Sterols found in maca may act on the hormone-producing hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands, which can lead to increased energy, libido and sexual desire.
To augment these protective effects, a standardized lignan extract from Norwegian spruce has been added to Super MiraForte. These lignans convert to enterolactones in the intestine that are then rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream where they provide significant biological effects. Enterolactones have demonstrated anti-estrogen and anti-DHT effects that are of particular importance for the aging prostate gland.
